The Lamb Inn is Open

After seven years of being closed as a pub the 300-year old Lamb Inn is back providing service to the people of Andover and beyond thanks to the cooperation of two local businesses.
A successful transformation from BeWiser‘s ownership and their re-naming it as The Owl’s Nest for use as a canteen and café, has taken place. The Lamb Inn is once again a place where people can meet and enjoy a pint and some friendly natter – or of course a gin. Who would have thought it would ever re-open!

The historic pub is now home to two independent enterprises that are bringing a new vibrancy to the area, The Andover Tap at the Lamb, and the Wessex Spirits Gin Palace.

The Andover Tap has moved from just 100 yards away into the lower and middle bars of this traditional pub, which had seen little change since the 2014 closure and its sale by Wadworth Brewery.

The layout has fortunately survived as did the original bar and its frontage. The bar front from The Tap has been moved into the small middle bar. Volunteers, led by owner Tim Abram, undertook painting, refurbishments and clearing the garden area to enable the well-attended ‘soft’ opening at the weekend. Support has also come from a successful crowdfunding appeal which achieved its target.

The pub now sports six handpumps with changing cask beers from small local producers along with ciders and a number of craft keg fonts. There is also a small fridge with a selection of craft cans and bottles. Nowhere in Andover has such a range to tempt the discerning customer.

As well as the wonderful array of beers there is also gin from……..

Wessex Spirits have moved from nearby Dene Road into what was the old lounge bar and have created a wonderful stylish Gin Palace where tasting sessions and events may be held.

There are also smartly decorated rooms upstairs for almost any type of meeting from club socials, groups of friends or corporate days.
The lovely owner Kate, the fount of all knowledge on gin, also creates the range of Wessex Spirit‘s fine gins on the premises. Don’t miss the Strawberry gin!
Currently the Gin Palace is for bookable visits only.
