Who could not be astounded at the amount of work carried out and the level of commitment by volunteers and helpers alongside the professional tradesmen at the Plough Inn at Longparish, the pub bought by the community and now so close to opening.
At a presentation last night (28th July) 45 local supporters were provided with the latest news which should see the Plough opening is doors this summer.
The tremendous amount of work since March has included new ceilings, new plumbing and heating systems, rewiring, a new kitchen and family living area for the manager, new stairs and work to the community and function room, and clearance work in the surrounding grounds. Outside, the building is still covered in scaffolding but that is soon to come down and the pub will again be visible in all its glory.
A chef is ready to start and a new manager being recruited while many enquiries have been flooding in for other positions. And given the status and character of the building even a ‘Bat Monitor’ has been appointed. Beers and drinks suppliers are being determined and there will be a rotating choice of guests from local breweries. Meanwhile much memorabilia has been sourced and donated which will adorn the pub.
The big call now is for volunteers to help.
The team says:
Our army of passionate volunteers are multi-talented, creative, hard working and committed.
We are making great progress but there is still much to be done. If you would like to get involved please get in touch – you don’t need a trade or specialist field to help out.
It’s not all heavy lifting!
