This week we see our pub trade re-opening for inside drinking – much awaited by many. There will still be restrictions, including table service, a need to register for test and trace, social distancing, face coverings when not seated and a restriction on group sizes.
Many pubs will be requiring bookings and some will be putting restrictions on time allowed, while others will be allowing walk-ins and be playing it by ear. And if you are required to book ensure you turn up or if your situation has changed to let the pub know. It has been despicable how many bookings have been made only for the customer not turn up, denying others to take their place and causing publicans unnecessary expense. Some might call it criminal. Others may be less polite.
Pubs have been hit hard in this pandemic, unfairly so say many when compared to other businesses. For those without outside areas this week will be the first time for months that they may be able to trade so please be sympathetic.
We are still a long way from returning to pre-covid times and the conditions are now very different. The trade is having to change so if visiting a pub have patience and be understanding of the pressures the publican and staff are having to endure. Smile, be pleasant, keep to the rules and enjoy the pubs – that’s what they are here for.
So now that just leaves where to choose to enjoy that pint?
Let us know where you went.
