Is Andover’s Wetherspoon really the best?

Local paper The Andover Advertiser has published a resumé of Trip Advisor reviews for the Hampshire JD Wetherspoon outlets.

The pub chain that focusses on cheap prices for food and drinks does seem to polarise opinions as do the opinions of its chairman Tim Martin.
However, The Advertiser did not include all Hampshire JDWs in its report just saying:
“We’ve ranked all the Wetherspoons near to you so that you know which ones to look out for, and which ones to avoid.”

In its findings The Advertiser places the Andover John Russell Fox in the High Street at the highest scoring in the reviews. The premises were once the home of The Advertiser and there are artefacts and pictures inside that reflect the publisher’s history, including a printing press.

At the bottom of the list is The Angel in Basingstoke. Many of the ubiquitous pub chain’s venues are conversions from older buildings, but The Angel is relatively new, being part of the town’s Festival Place shopping complex.
